3 Clos de Pommard Details
Our modern
2 bedroom ground floor apartment is located in a beautifully renovated 17th century carriage
inn, in the centre of Pommard. Pommard is a bustling wine village situated just on the outskirts of the medieval town of
Beaune, the heart of the Cote d'Or. A stay in our apartment, with the boulangerie (bakery), epicerie
(grocery shop), café, and restaurant literally steps from the front door, offers a true taste of Burgundian village life.
Entrance
Our
main secure entrance to Le Clos de Pommard is just a few steps from the private gated parking area, where there is reserved space for one car. Guests bringing additional vehicles may park them close by in the town square.
While not formally designated as 'handicapped accessible', this apartment is all on the ground floor, when using the front street entrance.
The Apartment
The focal point of
our 2 bedroomed apartment is a light-flooded great room, of approximately 1000 square feet,
designed with three main living areas.
The kitchen
is fully-appointed with oven, range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and a breakfast bar perfectly
situated to enjoy your morning coffee and croissants. Those who love to cook will have all the necessary equipment to do so, including cookbooks in both English and French.
The comfortable sitting area includes a flat screen T.V. with stereo, DVD and CD players. After a day of wine tasting or sightseeing you can relax with an assortment of movies, both current and
classic or simply watch some French
television.
The dining area is situated on the sunny, street side of the room and features a substantial table that seats six quite comfortably: An ideal place to enjoy a meal made from the delicacies you select at one of the local markets.
In the Master Bedroom, you will find yourself sleeping beneath the original 16th century Burgundian-beamed
ceiling. This room features a comfortable queen bed and a modern armoire with plenty of drawer and hanging space for
clothing. French doors lead to a semi-private enclosed patio.
The airy 2nd Bedroom features an ultra-comfortable queen sleeper sofa-bed. Located in the oldest part of the original building, this light-filled room is also an ideal spot for curling up with a good book or an afternoon nap.
The modern, spacious main bathroom includes a shower/tub combination, sink with vanity, and toilet. No need to bring a hairdryer, as one is provided for your use. An additional
half bath, with toilet and small sink, provides a little extra comfort and privacy for a family or two couples
travelling together.
For maximum comfort during cooler months, each room is equipped with
individually controlled electric heating. While the thick stone walls
and flow-through ventilation provide a naturally cool environment in
the summer, fans are also provided for your use.
A
telephone (free international calls) is provided in the apartment along with
WiFi internet access plus a computer if you cannot bring
your own.
You will also find tour guide books, maps, local information, and "insiders' tips" to enhance your stay.
We are pleased to provide our guests with a "Welcome Basket" of some basic items to get your stay off to a pleasant start.
